Our opinion on the Bassin de Dombret - Chaume
Bassin de Dombretin Chaume (town of Sables d'Olonne) is located at the beginning of the wild coast near the Armandèche lighthouse and the harbour of Les Sables d'Olonne. This pool filled with seawater is very popular with families with children. Swimming is safe and the water is warmer than the ocean. There is an artificial sandy beach high above the lake. Access is built through a hold for disabled people.
In summer, the lake is supervised every afternoon. Water is renewed about every two weeks (the pool is inaccessible during filling).
To go to this beach from the centre of Les Sables d'Olonne, go in the direction of Nouch cornice. The car park is easily visible thanks to the great tower on the road. Small free car park.

The main beach is located above the lake. Attendance is very significant at the end of July.
The lake is accessible by a path laid out in a gentle slope.
There are some rocks on the right side.
There is a view of the Armandèche lighthouse on the right. It also has a small beach with gravel but swimming is prohibited.
