The beach of Grandcamp Maisy is located east from the marina (right bank). Huge sandy beach at low tide extending on several kilometers and separated in two main areas separated in half at the level of the first aid station.
The part harbor side (left from Bourtrois street) is the most interesting to our sense (even if swimming is impossible at high tide, there is a dike promenade).
The east part is wilder and bordered by a pedestrian path. Swimming is possible at high tide (the top of the beach is pebble).
Behind the first aid station, there is a pleasant park for children with games on the sand.
In summer, it is advised to park at the level of the port, it is where we find most of the restaurants.
The coast of this part of Calvados is often recovered with algae. They are harmless in this part of Normandy (they are not green algae as we can find in Brittany). In summer, they are daily picked up.
