Beaches in Saint-Georges-de-Didonne (17110) France - advise, map and photos

Situated on the right bank of the Gironde river at its mouth and nestled in a forest of maritime pines and green oaks, Saint-Georges-de-Didonne is a pleasant seaside refuge on the Côte de Beauté and is one of the largest in the Charente-Maritime.

Here you will find natural areas featuring an exuberant richness of flora and fauna, be it in the forest or Suzac Point, the canal at the Marais du Chenaumoine or the Marais de La Briqueterie; there are many well-preserved locations to discover during your vacation here.

At the northern extremity of the Grande Conche beach lies the small dry harbour of Saint-Georges-de-Didonne, which functions according to the rhythm of the tides.

You will also find a large beach at Saint-Georges-de-Didonne which stretches nearly 2 km and features all necessary facilities. The northern end is an urban beach, becoming more pristine as you move south toward Suzac Point with a few small canals discretely tucked away. To the north is the beach of Vallières which is shared with the community of Royan (Grande Plage de Royan). To the south, near Suzac Point, a well-hidden creek offers a more peaceful setting (it was a nudist creek but in recent years nudism was prohibited in the community of St. Georges).

In the vicinity of Saint-Georges-de-Didonne, the white cliffs of Meschers with troglodytic habitations are a must-see. To the north are the appreciable beaches of Saint Palais sur Mer and the narrow canals of Vaux sur Mer.
