Perched at 360 meters’ altitude and located in southern Corsica, Olmeto is a haven belonging to the Valinco region. Between sea and mountains, it offers many activities and beautiful beaches that are to the delight of the tourists (in the resort called Olmeto-Plage). This small village is very picturesque and appreciated for its chapels full of charm. That of Santu-Spiritu is discovered after a walk on a small path, dates back to 1100s and is a famous pilgrimage site frequented mostly at Pentecost. The church of Santa Maria is beautiful and richly decorated. Its organ is quite remarkable. The largest menhir statue of Corsica has the same name and is located near the tower of the Calanca, at the foot of an old olive tree. Carved 8,000 years ago, you can still see a face and a sword.
Along the Bay, there are 20 km of beaches in Olmeto-Beach and neighbouring cities that are offered to the tourists. At a place called Olmeto-Plage, small lovely sandy coves lined with rocks add to the choice of bathers seeking peace and quiet. Propriano resort is only 15 minutes south, the opportunity to discover another paradise! For lovers of hiking, there are some beautiful untamed beaches in Sartène.
