Located on the Cote d'Albatre, Dieppe is the oldest French seaside resort. Its seafront is busy, even outside of summer. Dieppe has the chance to possess the closest beach to Paris! It offers a great view of the cliffs of the Cote d'Albatre (this zone is nicknamed the Cote aux Herons). In season, many traveling traders are installed along the beach making this town ideal for a weekend trip!
The Dieppe chateau (where the governors used to live) and its strategic position on a cliff offer one of the best views of this city on the coast with its high towers. It was reconverted into a museum and we find a nice collection of ivory.
The historic sector of Dieppe survived the last war, but many houses were rebuilt after the English bombarding in 1694. It is located on the left bank of the harbor between the Ferris wheel and rue d'Ecosse with the central church, Saint-Jacques. The harbor deserves a look as well.
Near Dieppe, there are some places you might not want to miss. The Etretat Beach inspired several painters with its high cliffs. Fécamp Beach is also well equipped with a promenade and many commerces.
