Sainte-Marguerite-sur-Mer is a seaside resort on the Albâtre Coast, in Normandy. Nestled in the side of a cliff, not far from Ailly point and the city of Dieppe, it is a popular destination for tourists in search of peace and quiet. Surrounded by countryside and woods, the village is famous for its beautiful gardens and beautiful Romanesque church of the XII century. The lighthouse is the symbol of the city and offers a unique view of the coastline. Just climb its 91 steps in order to observe the cliffs of St Valery en Caux. When the weather allows, there is a view of more than 80 km!
The beach of Sainte-Marguerite-sur-Mer follows on from Quiberville Beach. It is supervised in the summer season and has a playground for children and picnic tables. Access is easy.
The breach of the cove leads to Vasterival Beach, quiet and frequented by shore fishermen. The garden of the same name is a delight. Nearby is the manor of Ango, name of a wealthy ship-owner and philanthropist. This famous Italian Renaissance architecture is a local curiosity!
The nearby town, Pourville-sur-Mer is also nice and satisfies the greediest with its seafood specialities to be sampled in one of the restaurants that border the beach. A trip to Dieppe Castle will appeal to lovers of old monuments.
