Mentor Beach in Plouharnel - France

Our opinion on the Mentor Beach

Strangely enough, Mentor’s beach is not a well visited site. No doubt because the access road can be a little crowded during summer (it’s the only road that joins the Quiberon Peninsula to the mainland)…but out with weekends and peak times, it’s all good! This beach has many attractive qualities: fine sand, dunes, natural surroundings, areas to both surf and kitesurf (which makes for entertaining watching), and our four legged friends are also welcome here, just as long as they are both leashed and well-trained. A downside however, is its difficult access, which does discourage some holiday makers. Those among you who like a little alone-time will want to wander north where there are no external access points for 1km (0.6 miles). You might even see some sand surfers at low tide! This beach is not monitored apparently, (supposedly there is a mobile lifeguard truck which watches over several of the beaches…) so please be careful when swimming.
To get here from Plouharnel centre, follow the B-Road to Quiberon and just before you reach the Peninsula, follow the signs for Mentor Beach parking which should clearly signposted on your right (be careful, there is a vehicle height limit in place).
