Ty Hoche Beach in Plouharnel - France

Our opinion on the Ty Hoche Beach

As the crow flies, Ty Hoche beach is 300 metres from Plouharnel’s main beach (Sainte-Barbe). It is a little different from the others: in that there is no lifeguard station, it’s difficult to access, there are no facilities, and it also had a reputation that wasn’t the greatest (it was difficult to access and was reputed for naturalists, of which some were inconsiderate in their practice). A municipal by-law passed several years ago changed all of this however. It prohibited naturalism in the commune of Plouharnel and now they must make do with the “naturalism zone” on Erdeven beach. Be warned however, the police patrol this beach on horse-back….
Ty Hoche greatly resembles Plouharnel’s other beaches (north-west of the Quiberon Peninsula) but has a lower visitation rate. Getting here from the car park is a little difficult, a 250 metre sand path through the dunes with no shade does a lot to discourage many holiday makers in coming, however that is the price to pay for a nice, tranquil beach. To get here, follow the road for Sainte-Barbe beach but before getting to the car park, take a left down a dirt path. Follow it for roughly 600 metres, take a right and then another right. Parking is free.
