The resort of Locmariaquer in Morbihan and its beautiful beaches overlooking the bay of Quiberon are to the delight of tourists.
Its rich religious heritage is discovered thanks to the many walks: the church "Notre Dame de Kerdro” built in 1082, the charming Moustoir chapel and statue of the Vierge built on the rocks at the Kerpenhir point, are among the sites not to be missed. The small port of the city, which is in the Rhuys peninsula offers a panoramic view of the Bay of Morbihan and river Auray, and many maritime events take place all year round.
The town is also surrounded by several megalithic monuments: dolmens, tumuli and menhirs which make this area a land of legends!
There are 5 beaches in Locmariaquer, each easily accessible and have a wide range of activities to suit all tastes. Families will enjoy La Grande Plage Beach, called La Falaise, and those of Saint-Pierre, Brénéguy and Toul Keun. A beach is reserved for the sailing school while Kerinis and Valy beaches are full of charm and remain natural. However, swimming is often not possible (low tide).
Coming to Locmariaquer is also an opportunity to go to Kerpenhir point facing Port Navalo. It is the entrance of the Bay of Morbihan, particularly impressive when the tide is rising or falling because of strong currents.
The beaches of La Trinité sur Mer are nearby. They complement the wide choice of ocean beaches near the Bay of Morbihan. The dolmens of Carnac and the seaside resort of Carnac are also there to be discovered.
