Our opinion on the La Franqui Beach
Leucate’s Franqui Beach is situated near La Franqui, the original resort of Aude. Located north of Cap-Leucate, the village, with its famous cliffs of Leucate. The nearest part is sheltered from the north wind, it is a natural point of refuge for ships in times of stormy weather. This central beach stretches along “avenue Henry de Monfreid” (founder of this small resort) to Grau de la Franqui, east of La Palme lake.
Note: this beach is prone to high winds so making swimming and even sunbathing unpleasant. In our opinion, avoid this beach on windy days, it is much better to go to Plagette beach or the beach of Galion that are sheltered.
