Galion Beach - Central Beach in Leucate - France

Here we have an aerial view of the beaches of Leucate and we can see the beaches of Port Barcares in the Pyrénées Orientales. At the bottom of this hill, there is Leucate Beach and Galion Beach then Mouret Beach extending to the Grau de Leucate. Behind it is the Port-Leucate beaches.

The beach at Leucate is one of the few beaches in the Languedoc sheltered from the Tramontane.

We are at the bottom of the cliffs in the sheltered area from the winds. This area is not supervised.

In this area, parking is quite difficult.

This area is relatively narrow but the beach is less crowded.

At Leucate Plage, you have a large supervised sandy beach. There are many restaurants and shops in the area.

The beach stretches to the horizon towards Port-Leucate.

At the centre, a pleasant walkway along the “Côte Rêvée”.

We are south of this beach, at the second lifeguard station (Galion - next to the big free carpark). The second is at the end of the village.

There are some private beaches. Note the presence of access equipped for people with reduced mobility.

At the lifeguard station of Galion, environment resembles that of Mouret Beach (built up area and camping).

At the entrance of the village, there are free car parking at the beach.
