Leucate’s central beach extends from the bottom of the cliff to the Galion’s parking. This is Leucate’s most family orientated beach with two lifeguard stations (one at the parking in the centre of the village and the other on the Galion’s). The left side is the most popular with many shops and restaurants nearby. The bottom of the cliff is sheltered from the wind (strong winds in this area). The right hand-side is unspoilt even if there are some beach huts. Access is provided for people with reduced mobility.
To go to this beach, take D627 towards Leucate-Plage and Leucate-Village. At the roundabout, turn left for Leucate-Plage. There is a first carpark on the left by the seafront (Galion) and the second in the centre.
This is one of the most popular beaches in the Aude because of its strong winds.
