Beaches in Port Barcarès (66420) France - advise, map and photos

Le Barcarès (also called Port-Barcarès) is a seaside destination in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, located at about 25 kilometers from Perpignan and near the beaches of the department Aude and those of Leucate. We find seven kilometers of beach and 7000 hectares of water that is particularly appreciated by walkers. This coast was updated in the 1960s. The town has chosen, however, to preserve its treasures, notably the fishermen's village that is a picture of the traditional habitat of the Salanque. One of the curiosities of the town is without a doubt Lydia, at Grande Beach, a beached ship that hosts a restaurant and a casino. The pond of Port-Barcarès allows us to discover the authentic fishermen's houses, a few “casotes”, and a preserved faun and flora. This space was classified “Natura 2000” and is linked with the sea by three estuaries. The the beach is divided into several sectors pleases swimmers and we can also practice windsurfing, jet ski, and paddle boat.

There are many markets that attract tourists from all over the world. They are open every day from June to September. During July and August there are night markets. The fish stand allows us to buy fresh fish straight from the boats as they return to the harbor!

To the south of Port-Barcarès, we find the beaches of Torreilles and Sainte-Marie which offer a wild, natural setting.
