Located in the department Pyrenees-Orientales (bordering the beaches of Aude) the small seaside destination of Torreilles is a little village with a beach, that has stayed wild, and attracts many visitors each year. To its advantage, it has the effect of being one of the only cities that offers a stretch of preserved sand, far from urban constructions that ruin the coast. This authentic Salanque area is four kilometers of beach that pleases in particular those who love nature and authenticity.
Torreilles Beach is strewn with German blockhaus in the north, vestiges of the second World War, and extends to the mouth of the Agly River. It is divided into three parts: Centre, at the heart of the natural protected zone; the “Camps de la Ribère” and Sud, wider and traditionally reserved for nudism and the north zone. During the summer, many activities are proposed to tourists: gym, beach soccer, rugby...
The old village has many pretty treasures that can be discovered when you walk around – such as the little Notre Dame de Juhègues chapel that dates to the 11th Century. This is where many parties are organized, such as the popular jazz festival that has taken place over many years. The village is also proud to welcom “Tout yeux tout Torreilles” in July and August, a series of prestigious concerts. Torreilles is one of our favorite destinations in Languedoc-Roussillon since it is preserved and the sand beaches are beautiful.
To the south of Torreilles, we find the beaches of Sainte-Marie that are less preserved but with more activities (the downtown area is on the seafront). To the north are the vast beaches of Barcarès where the coast is ruptured with Torreilles-Plage.
