The beach of Ecault on the municipality of Saint Etienne au Mont is part of the secret beaches of the north of France. At the edge of the national forest of Ecault, the preserved dune massif offers a beautiful sandy beach on almost 2.8 kms between Equihen-Plage and Hardelot-Plage. There are cliffs said dead covered with dunes. The site is exceptional and can be the occasion for a nice walk through the different trails (the most interesting is by the path of the Jews where we can see the remains of the Atlantic Wall built by the Germans with the help of Jewish prisoners during the Second World War – departure next to the castle of Hardelot).

Several paths allow to reach the beach. The fastest coming from Equihen by the D119 is to follow the direction of Arena (nvironmental Interpretation Center) by Warenne road. There is a first parking just before the center. Another parking is situated at the end of the road (but parking is limited – however access to the beach in 5 minutes). The bravest can leave from the castle of Hardelot by taking the path of the Jews. We can also easily reach the beach from the parking of Equihen-Beach by going to the south.

This wild beach near the forest of Ecault offers an idyllic setting close to Hardelot and Equilen.

The cliff (said dead) is covered by sand dunes. They are the dunes of Ecault (it is a property of the Conservatoire du Littoral).

In the distance, we can see the first aid station of the beach of Equihen (it is at about 400 meters away). Going north, we can enjoy the supervised beach.

Going south, we reach the station of Hardelot (at about 3 km away, we start seeing buildings). This south zone is wilder and less frequented. However, it is not monitored.

On the left side of this photo, we can see the access by the Warenne path (access in 5 minutes from the parking).

From the parking, the path is very well laid out.

At the end of the Warenne path (after the Arena center), we can find a few parking spaces (full pretty fast). Other parkings are available but the are further.
