Located between Arromanches les Bains and Courseulles sur Mer, on the coast of Nacre, the small seaside resort of Ver sur Mer is in the sector of the Landing of Normandy of the Second World War (Gold Beach).
With a coast of 3.5 kms, there are two big beaches at Ver sur Mer. The main one is located in the city center and has a first aid station. At the west, in direction of Asnelles, in the locality of Paisty Vert there is the second beach bordered by sheds. The attendance on the beaches of Ver sur Mer is very low (including in July and August) because of the presence of green algae (we find them mainly on the beaches of Brittany but they start coming on certain areas of Normandy). When they break down, they can be toxic and it gives off a very unpleasant odor. In certain municipalities, they are picked up (using tractors) to allow the use of the beaches. Lack of means, they are not picked up on the beaches of Ver sur Mer hence the desertification of holidaymakers …
Near Ver sur Mer, we can enjoy the beaches of Graye sur Mer (4 different sectors) or that of Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer (the municipality is nicknamed the queen of iodine).
