The seaside resort of Quend is located in the department of the Somme, and offers 15 km of fine sand to the many tourists who come every summer. Near the Bay of Somme and the Authie, the town is known for its "nature." It has a wide variety of landscapes and many hikers visit the discovery-trails of Royon and Colombier, a haven of peace.
The beaches of Quend are divided into three areas. The beach in the city center and the seawall promenades are monitored in summer. It is equipped for disabled people. Then there are north and south the dunes in a wild space. These two areas are not monitored.
Sand yachting, speed sailing, kayaking, cycling, activities abound and Quend is the perfect place to practice sports in any season.
The Bird Park of Marquenterre is a quite remarkable nature reserve, and one can learn to observe the many bird species living in the town at Maison de la Baie de Somme et de l’Oiseau. The area can also be discovered through the railway of the Bay, which offers unique views, this one belonging to the club of the most beautiful bays in the world! One can take advantage of one’s stay to explore the surrounding resorts like Le Crotoy and Saint-Valéry-sur-Somme. Just a few kilometres north, the beaches of Fort-Mahon are famous sand yachting spots.
