The seaside resort of Cayeux sur Mer is one of the oldest French seaside resorts, established at the time of Sea Bathing. Its coastline stretches over 14 km.
The beach of Cayeux sur Mer is divided into several areas. The nature reserve of Hâble is located to the south with pebble farms just outside Cayeux (the pebbles of Cayeux are famous worldwide, they are used in building and road construction). Southbound, one begins to see the cliffs of Côte d'Albâtre ending towards the seaside resort of Tréport. In the city center, there is a large pebble beach with many activities in summer. Some areas are monitored and there are many beach huts with a boardwalk. Northbound towards the port of Hourdel, dunes begin to appear near the Bay of Somme. The landscape is totally different and one can even spot seals.
Cayeux sur Mer has a strategic position in Picardy. Northward, one can enjoy the large sandy beaches around Quend. Southward, one can reach the beaches of Seine Maritime with their famous cliffs in Côte d’Albâtre. The beaches of Dieppe are less than an hour away; it is the opportunity to discover the oldest French seaside resort.
