Our opinion on the Coubre Beach
Before reaching La Palmyre, near the two lighthouses of the peninsula of Arvert, we find the beach of Coubre of La Tremblade. Huge sandy beach bordered by huge dunes and on the edge of the forest of La Tremblade, we are on one of the wildest beaches in the area. She is famous for the violence of her ocean (full west orientation, we are on the wild coast), which makes it an excellent spot for surfers.On the other hand, for bathing caution…the currents are very strong in the area (baines) and the ocean is often unleashed. Many incidents are to be deplored…
Note that this beach is allowed to dogs throughout the year. Beautiful playground…
The beach is close to La Palmyre (even straddling this town for the southern part at the level of the Bonne Anse). Follow the D25 north (Ronce-les-Bains) and turn left at the lighthouse of La Coubre at the level of the parking lot (the parking on the beach is not the same as the lighthouse). Access a bit long for a trail.

From the dune, we have a beautiful view of the lighthouse of La Coubre which is close.
Huge sandy beach that stretches for several kilometers to the north.The ocean is very agitated in this sector.
To the south, we reach La Palmyre with its sand arrow which forms the Bonne Anse.
From the beach and behind the dunes, we see the two lighthouses. The most visible (on the right of the photo) is the lighthouse of La Coubre (to visit). Behind (left of the photo in the background), it is the old lighthouse.
It is one of the wildest beaches in the area.
It is one of the few beaches north of Royan where dogs are accepted…but be careful swimming is very dangerous.

On the left, we have the sand arrow (advanced sandy blooming into the ocean) which closes Bonne Anse (La Palmyre).
Bonne Anse is visible from the lighthouse of La Coubre.
From the parking, the path is a bit long and you have to cross the dune.
