The village of Guidel is located in the south of Brittany in the department of Morbihan, in the southwest of Lorient. This village has long turned its back on its coastline, which is 5 km from the centre of the village.
After the Second World War (Lorient with its submarine base nearby was strategic, we can also see many bunkers on the coastline, some of which are painted by student artists in Lorient), a coastal road was built to join Lorient and the sea. Gradually, the various beaches of Guidel have attracted many visitors. Off season, people come to practice surfing or kiteboarding. In the summer season, many beaches are arranged and supervised.
By road from the waterfront, the beaches of Larmor-Plage and Ploemeur. It is in the latter that we find most of the animations and a real resort with city beaches (unlike Guidel). The Finistère beaches are close by (river Laïta marks the border). From Lorient, tourists can reach the island of Groix (Second largest Breton Island). You can appreciate the “Est Quiberon” and its peninsula (beware traffic is very congested in the summer).
