Located at the beginning of Cap Corse, in the northeast of Corsica, Bastia’s seaside resort has the privilege of being a city of art and history and of being located at the crossroads of France and Italy. The oldest part of Bastia is built around the neighbourhood of Terra Vecchia that is to say, around the harbour. Saint-Nicolas square is the most important place of the island (300 meters long) and is located in the port near the landing. There are many restaurants, cafes and shops there. Terra Nova is the newer part of Bastia (upper part) and it is located around the citadel.
As for the beaches, Bastia is not the largest tourist destination of the Island of Beauty. To enjoy the beaches, one will have to move away from the city centre. There are sandy beaches in the south of Bastia and pebble beaches or small coves in the north. Arinella Beach is the most famous and there are many activities (water slides, zip...). There are also some beaches in the south of Bastia such as Tahiti Beach 15 km away in the south.
For a trip in the countryside, Biguglia pond makes a family outing possible to discover many plants and birds. Note that this is the largest pond lagoon on the Corsican coast. Furiani Beach is located by the sea.
For less touristy beaches, go in the direction of Cap Corse, where there is Brando Beach and the small marina of Erbalunga.
