The small seaside resort of Saint-Pierre-Quiberon, located at the entrance of the peninsula of Quiberon, about twenty kilometres from Auray and the Gulf of Morbihan, is a popular seaside resort. This peninsula in southern Brittany offers maximum sunshine and beautiful beaches. The center of St-Pierre is built around the Port of Orange. The busy area with cafe and restaurant terraces stretches along the beach in summer. The Tabarly promenade goes from the south to the north of the beach.
There are many beaches in Saint-Pierre-Quiberon. The West Coast is the most agitated and least protected. Unlike the different beaches in Quiberon on the West Coast (Wild Coast, there are many coves, but swimming is prohibited due to strong currents), it is possible to swim on this one in St. Pierre. The coast is not rugged, there are long sandy beaches bordered by dunes. Penthièvre Beach is the first one (named after the fort at its end) and the largest and popular for sand yachting or surfing. The eastern beaches are in the bay of Quiberon. They are protected and mostly family-oriented.
We advise you to take the Tire-Bouchon in summer to go to the peninsula of Quiberon (little train linking Auray to Quiberon, a dozen daily return trips in summer - 9 stops) because the only road (D768) is completely blocked.
