The seaside resort of Sables d'Or les Pins is located in northern Brittany, in the department of Côtes d'Armor between Erquy and Cap Frehel (north of the Bay of St Brieuc). This seaside resort was created in the 1920s to compete with Deauville and to attract the English aristocracy, but the owner was ruined by the financial crisis of 1929. The development of the resort was then stopped (for 9 years luxury villas, hotels, restaurants and a casino were built).
The development of the resort resumed in a more controlled manner at the end of the Second World War. Nowadays, there is a family-oriented resort, lively only in summer. The seafront, despite close buildings, is well preserved. The long beach of Sables d'Or les Pins attract many connoisseurs in summer. With its 3 km of fine sand, ideally located between the bay of Saint Brieuc and Cap Frehel, there is space for everyone to put one’s towel down without being disturbed by one’s neighbour. One can enjoy many activities. There are several hotels, restaurants and even a campsite in the resort, about 500 meters from the beach.
There are numerous points of interest nearby. Cap Frehel is probably one of the most impressive places on the Emerald Coast. The beaches of Erquy offer a great diversity of beautiful wild beaches that one can discover after a short walk. We also like the beaches of Pléneuf Val André and its seaside resort. It is not far from the beaches of Saint Malo, which are more urban, but with plenty of activities and places to visit.
