Located in the department of the Landes, on the “Côte d’Argent”, the seaside resort of Messanges is a popular destination for pilgrims of the Way of Saint Jacques de Compostela and families who appreciate the two large Messanges beaches hidden behind the dunes. Only the central beach is easily accessible, the south beach is more used by the campsites. However, nearby, the beach of Vieux Boucau of Sablères is easily accessible and offers ample parking.
Among the things to see in the village, St. Clement Church which dates back to 1630’s and the 72 meters high semaphore on the north beach. Its 5 km of coastline are the delight of surfers and swimmers between Moliets et Maa and Vieux Boucau. They remained very untamed and natural and so vast that everyone will find comfort and peace and quiet. Near the forest, the area is known to be naturist. Many activities are available and there are water sports schools.
The area is renowned for its walks in the pine forest that borders the town, around the Moisan Lake to discover the remains of a harbour and along the two trails landscaped around the lakes for either walking, cycling or horse-riding.
