Mers les Bains is the southernmost seaside resort in Picardy. Mers les Bains, neighbour of the last resort of Tréport in Seine-Maritime, has inherited an exceptional seafront with many classified villas when sea swimming was fashionable (way back when one of the favourite resorts of the Parisians were just three hours from the capital by train).
Mers les Bains Beach stretches about 1 km along a pleasant pedestrian esplanade. It is covered in pebbles at high tide and sand at low tide. It is a huge playground then.
From either side of the city, the view of the nearby cliffs is beautiful. In the south, the last cliffs of Côte d’Albâtre end in Tréport (one goes from Tréport to Mers les Bains by gateways). The city offers a different framework at night, with illuminated walls and the cliffs of Tréport.
Walkers will enjoy the coastal path high up on the cliffs, which stretches from Mers les Bains to Bois de Cise with magnificent views stretching to the Bay of Somme in the north and Côte d’Albâtre in the south.
