Le Havre, seaside resort since 1999, is located in the department of Seine-Maritime. Second biggest port of France, it has also obtained the Family Plus label for it welcomes children with many clubs around the beach in Le Havre during the summer season. It is also famous for kitesurfing thanks to its frequent winds.
There is also a large sandy beach and pebbles in Le Havre that spans for nearly 2 km. It is classified “Handiplage”. A nice walk along the waterfront stretches for 600 meters.
Because of the strategic position at the mouth of the Seine, Le Havre was totally destroyed by the Allied bombing and was rebuilt in the 50s. You can discover the Saint Joseph church with its lantern tower and its thousands of coloured glass windows.
Le Havre marks the start of the Côte d’Albâtre remarkable for its white chalk cliffs and its milky waters. You can discover the Etretat cliffs that attract many visitors each year.
You can also go the famous Fécamp beaches on the Côte d’Albâtre or further south on the beaches of Deauville with the famous boardwalk promenade.
