Etretat is a vital seaside destination in Normandy located on the Cote d'Albatre between Le Havre and Fécamp. It is reputed for its high cliffs where we find between cliff Aval and Amont, a large pebbled beach extending for almost one kilometer and opening to the English Channel. Etretat offers a real post card view.
The seashore is bordered with a promenade. To the right we find the cliff Amont with the Notre Dame de la Garde chapel and on the left is the cliff Aval with its arch (port d'Aval). From the end of the promenade, thanks to some stairs, we can climb on the cliff d'Aval which gives us a magnificent view.
In the different cliffs, we find caves of which several are only accessible at low tide. Note that we find a beautiful gulf.
The seaside resort of Fécamp is equally as beautiful with its harbor and lovely beach. It can be found at about fifteen kilometers from Etretat. Le Havre is located about thirty minutes south by car and deserves a stopover before joining up with the big sand beaches of Calvados where the beaches of Honfleur mark the departure point for the estuary of the Seine.
