Ile Rousse is located in Northern Corsica and is a seaside village famous for its history and beautiful landscapes. Limited in the northwest by red islands and in the south by a large white sandy beach, giving great pleasure to swimmers, it is very lively and has a certain Latin charm. The colour of the water and of the surrounding rocks gives it its name and its exceptional brightness makes each perspective enchanting.
Its human dimensions, summer and winter energy and the large Pascal Paoli central square where the covered market is make the city a very charming place. The Genoese tower on Pietra Island is a must see, accessible from the road to the lighthouse, just like Scalu tower on the town hall square.
There are several beaches in Ile Rousse. Napoleon and Caruchettu beaches are closer to the city centre and the harbour. These are also the two most family oriented beaches. There is a beach next to the port, where you can practice many water activities. But the most beautiful beaches are located outside Ile Rousse. The wildest beaches of Ile Rousse are located in Corbara in the south with the beaches of Bodri and Gjunchitu. The beaches of Ostriconi (deemed dangerous) and Lozari are located in the north.
Note that the main ports of the “Ile de beauté” are located in Ile Rousse for passenger transport. There are regular connections with the ports of Nice, Marseille and Toulon in summer.
