Escalles is a small village on Côte d’Opale nestled in a pretty valley, just a few kilometres from Calais and Boulogne-Sur-Mer, in the department of Pas-de-Calais in northern France. The village is well known to holidaymakers and photographers for the beautiful views it offers from its cliffs on the horizon and the long sand and pebble beaches. It must be said that Cap Blanc Nez, one of the finest on Cote d’Opale, is located there. There are many hiking, equestrian and mountain bike trails leading to the highest point of this magnificent site at 133m above sea level. One can see the English coasts from there on clear days and visitors can admire the sunset in the evening.
The sea is accessible from a notch. The great beach of Escalles is located there at the foot of Cap Blanc Nez. There is nothing like it!
Rapeseed and poppy fields surround the village but the beach, at the foot of the cliffs, remains the real star of Escale! For a more urban aspect with many activities, Calais Beach is it.
One can discover the nearby seaside resorts like Wimereux and the pretty lace from Calais during one’s stay. The Regional Natural Park of Caps et Marais d'Opale is also a popular venue for its walks and by bird watchers.
