The village of Audinghen, in the department of Pas-de-Calais in France, is a quiet and peaceful destination attracting many visitors in summer. It is located on the tip of Gris-Nez where the view over the bay of Wissant and the nearby Cap Blanc-Nez is breath taking.
Weather permitting, the landscape stretches to the English coast and one can see many species of migratory birds.
There are three beaches in Audinghen. The main one, north of Cap Gris Nez, is the most easily accessible but the plainest. There are two small preserved and little known coves in the south that can be accessed by footpaths.
The locality of Haringzelles, just outside the resort, was known as a strategic site during the Second World War. One can still discover one of the casemates and visit the Atlantic Wall Museum there. Cran du Poulet nearby shelters a small pebble creek.
In mid-September, many tourists occupy the resort and join the celebration of the 2 capes and the hike organized there. Athletes can also enjoy water activities even if Audinghen has strong currents, one should therefore be careful even when swimming. Wissant is just a few kilometres away, as well as Ambleteuse and Calais and other nearby destinations, which benefit from beautiful beaches and that one can visit with pleasure during one’s stay in Audinghen.
