Located in the department Pas-de-Calais, on the English Chanel, Boulogne-sur-Mer is a seaside resort known for being the first fishing harbor in France. It is nicknamed “Capital of the Opal Coast” since many tourists visit its historic site and beach each year.
Geographically, it is exceptional. Boulogne is near all of the emblematic sites of the region, like Cape Gris Nez and the resorts of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, Wimereux. This city of art and history is divided into three zones: the old city, tucked in behind the ramparts of the 13th century, the low city and the seafront. This is where we find the harbor, Capécure where you can buy all products of the sea and the Gambetta dock which makes for a nice walk. The Camot dam, three kilometers long, attracts fishermen.
Tourists like to visit Nausicaa, a center for discovering marine environments where we find one of the biggest public aquariums in Europe. Just next to this we find Boulogne-sur-Mer Beach, bordered by the city and easily accessible. We can rent bathing huts, screens, and chaises longues and can practice sand yachting, kitesurfing, etc. Four kilometers south, behind the harbor, we find Portel Beach which is equally appreciable with several activities.
