Beaches in Châtelaillon-Plage (17340) France - advise, map and photos

The seaside resort of Châtelaillon-Plage is the most important station near La Rochelle. There is a large sandy beach that runs along the city center and along beautifl renovated villas. No buildings and towers, the environment is preserved and the beach well maintained. We understand why Châtelaillon is a destination to seek ! In summer, on the beach, many activites are offered : beach volleyball, water aerobics, water activities… At Easter, an important kite festival takes place on the beach. The big disadvantage of the beaches of Châtelaillon is access to low tide. Swimming is impossible because the sea retreats far away (several kilometers).

The seafront is nice, with a nice walk along the wide beach overlooking the islands of Charente. The surroundings of Châtelaillon are worth a detour like the nature reserve of the Marais d’Yves, Fouras for its beaches and its Vauban fort, the island of Aix for its natural side (to cycle) and of course the Island of Ré (which has our preference) and the island of Oléron. La Rochelle deserves a one-day break for its old port, the Saint-Nicolas and Lantern towers and its aquarium.
