In the heart of the region Languedoc-Roussillon (South of France), the seaside destination of Argelès-sur-Mer offers the last white beach before the creeks of Cote Vermeille. Located about twenty kilometers from Perpignan, it is very sough after by families who appreciate its great location at the foot of the Pyrenees and the Albères. The city is champion of Europe with its camping material and landscapes that spread from the bank of Tech to Spain offering great walking trails. Argelès-sur-Mer is an old village and Argelès-Plage is the place to visit for all the sea activities. More to the south we find Port-Argelès and the las white sand beach, Racou, surrounded by pretty little houses that are full of charm.
The sea frond of Argelès-sur-Mer near downtown is pedestrian friendly. We find several cafes, restaurants, and shops. The different beaches of Argeles sur Mer are bordered by a promenade. Note that we find several free parking lots on the seafront.
The city is also known as a spot for snorkeling that allows us to discover a cargo ship wreck, le Bananier, at 47 meters deep. In July, each Wednesday night, a firework show is launched from the harbor and the park Valmy welcomes tango festivals and current music (Les Déferlantes). The beach of seven kilometers hold the label “Pavillon Bleu” and was one of the first to develop a handicap accessible area.
Nearby, the charming town Collioure with its pebbled beaches must be discovered, as well as the creeks of Banyuls sur Mer. To the north are the great stretches of sand of the beaches of Canet en Roussillon.
