Facing the Quiberon peninsula, in the natural reserve of Saint-Pierre Loperec, Locmariaquer’s St Pierre Beach is the most untamed beach of the resort. Protected by the peninsula and major dunes (for this part of the coast), this beach offers a beautiful stretch of sand between Er Hourél and Erlong points. However, the beach is not made of extra fine sand but a mixture of sand and gravel (on the waterfront). Some World War II bunkers remind us of the strategic position of Locmariaquer. On the far left, there is the small beach of Brénéguy.
To get to this beach from the centre of Locmariaquer, take the direction for Auray (D781). At the traffic lights (there is a pizzeria and a restaurant), turn left towards St-Pierre (C3). Follow the road for 2.5 km to St Pierre car park. Access to the beach is along trails through the reserve (about 10 minutes’ walk).
