Platin beach is the main beach in Aytré. Wide beach of almost 1.7 km, it extends between the points of Roux and of Chay (commune of Angoulins) in the cove of Godechaud. Bordered by small dunes, it has a coarse sand mixed with many seashells. Swimming is only possible two hours around high tide (the sea goes back really far in the area, the seabeds are flat), the rest of the time the soi lis very muddy. The regulars say that it is here that we find the hottest water around La Rochelle. Little service in the surroundings, only a campsite.
This beach is also a good benchmark for kitesurfing (beware, there are oyster beds offshore, dangerous at low tide).
Dogs and sand yachting are forbidden on the beach from 15 June to 15 September.
