Napoleon Beach located in Port Saint Louis is one of the largest beaches of Camargue, along with Piemanson Beach and Est Beach in Saintes Maries de la Mer. Easily accessible by car, this beach offers 10 km of sand with one side facing the Rhone and the other facing the Gulf of Fos sur Mer. Even in the middle of summer, it is easy to find a spot to lay out your beach towel without being bothered by your neighbor! This beach does have a lifeguard during the summer near the parking lot (look at the signs to indicate the lifeguard zone). Dogs held on a leash are permitted outside of the lifeguard zone.
Bordered by dunes, this is one of the most beautiful sand beaches of Camargue. The right side is more wild while the left side has an atmosphere a little more “ruined” from the petroleum chimneys in the Gulf of Fos sur Mer that we can see from the beach.
Napoleon beach is also a great spot to surf, thanks to the wind.
To get here from downtown Port Saint Louis, take the Route de Napoleon for about 5 km (a straight line in the middle of the ponds). A big parking lot borders this beach (you'll pay in the summer – 3 euros). It's also possible to come by bus.
