Our opinion on the Grande Beach
Grande Beach in Hendaye is one of the biggest beaches on the Basque coast. It extends over several kilometers along the seafront of Hendaye, only a few steps away from Spain.
The widest part is located to the north of Hendaye (across from the Thalassotherapy center, the zone closest to Spain). According to the tide, we can have a width of 400 meters on this beach!
This beach is appreciated by families thanks to the slight slope into the water, facilitating swimming. During the summer this beach has a lifeguard.
However the tide is, there is always an exposed beach, a sandy zone to lay out your towel (which is not always the case on the Atlantic coast).
A large parking lot is available near the harbor. We also find a few parking places along the beach (Boulevard de la Mer).
This beach is also recommended for beginner surfers. We also find a few restaurants and kiosks along this beach, and it is possible to rent a mattress or tent in season.

This large beach in Hendaye extends over several kilometers. It's one of the most beautiful beaches on the Basque coast.
To the left, we can see the Spanish coast which is just on the other side of the port.
From the end of this large beach, near the thalassotherapy center, we can distinguish the twin rocks.
The seafront of Hendaye represents well the Basque villas on the coast.
Since the ground on this beach is hard, you can easily go for a jog or walk around with a stroller.
Ideal for a walk or sports, this big beach is reputed in Pays Basque.
