Espiguette Beach in Port Camargue - France

Our opinion on the Espiguette Beach

Espiguette Beach is located to the south of Port Camargue and Grau du Roi. It's the most wild beach in Gard and extends for close to 18 kilometers toward the beaches of Saintes Maries de la Mer. In a desertlike environment, we find dunes that can reach ten meters high.

The closest area to Port Camargue (at the roundabout of route d'Espiguette at the exit of Port Camargue, take a right toward the Espiguette campsite – we find a free parking lot at the end of the road) has a first-aid station. In this area the beach is wild but frequented (we find touristic things nearby).

To have a more wild zone, we must go further toward the lighthouse of Espiguette. We find a parking lot (6 euros for the day). To get to the sea you need to walk about 800 meters in the dunes. The landscape is grandiose. You are guaranteed to find a beach with your closest neighbor at 100 meters.

Continuing to the left you will find a nude beach. The easiest way to park is at the edge of the parking lot. The nude beach is found at 400 meters to the left of the different sandy coves.

If you would like to avoid paying for parking, you should park in the first free parking lot and then come to the beach either by foot or bike.

Note that we find a few private beaches and a few snack stands along this beach, but as it is immense it is hard to find them.
