Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone is famous for its long wild beach by the ponds between Palavas-les-Flots in the east and Frontignan in the west. The beach stretches over 8 km with dunes. The environment is magical and looks like the Camargue region in Saintes Maries de la Mer for example. It is probably one of the wildest beaches in Languedoc-Roussillon. Access to this beach is regulated in summer. The various car parks are located about 2.5 km from the cathedral and the monitored beach. Small train shuttles are available (fees). It is also possible to go along the coast or pass through the ponds.
The Cathedral of Maguelone is located on a lost island in the middle of ponds, in dense vegetation of pine trees, eucalyptus and Mediterranean species between the village of Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone and its great beach. One can visit it.
