Beaches in La Brée-les-Bains (17840) France - advise, map and photos

The small seaside resort of La Brée les Bains, located northeast of the island of Oléron, is one of the smallest of the island. It is rather secluded and attendance is reasonable even in high season. The church of Notre Dame de l’Assomption dominates the center of the village. There are beautiful white houses around it with hollyhocks, reminding us that we are indeed on Oléron. At the entrance to La Brée, one can see the only mill tab of the island.

The beaches of La Brée les Bains are the main attraction in summer. The central beach (Planginot) is the busiest and has nothing to envy of the big resorts. It is supervised in summer and bathing huts provide an authentic side. In summer, beach volleyball courts are installed at the top of the beach. The northern area is reserved for athletes with an area for windsurfers and a channel for jet skiing. Along the beach, one can even play boules. Further south, there are two other beaches, which are little known and not very busy. At low tide, the beaches are turned into a real playground for shore fishing.
