Grande Cote Beach in Saint-Palais-sur-Mer - France

Our opinion on the Grande Cote Beach

The beach of Grande Cote is the largest sand beach of Saint-Palais-sur-Mer and stretches 4 kilometers in length from the esplanade de la Grande Cote where you will find a parking lot. It is this zone (nearest saint-Palais) that swimming is supervised during the summer season. Here we find a first-aid station as well as restrooms.

After the marker number 22 (after the swimming area), there is a 400 meter zone reserved for sailboats during summer (June 15 to September 15). Outside of this period, sailing is allowed along the entire beach. After this zone, there are numerous buildings on the beach or on the dunes.

At this beach, you can also practice nautical activities (surf, kayak or kite) outside of supervised zones.

A zone is also reserved for naturalism. It is situated between line number 15 and the limite between the communities of Mathes and of Saint-Palais-sur-Mer (parking available at kilometer 27 of the yellow delimitation - parking les combots). This beach carries the name des Combots. There is also a first-aid station in this zone and the naturist beach is found 50 meters to the right of the first-aid station and stretches over 600 meters. Note that this is the only officially nudist beach along the Royannaise coast.
