Located on the left bank of the Hérault river and west of the seaside resort of Cap d'Agde, Le Grau d'Agde is in contrast with its neighbour for its more typical character. Also very touristy, there are still fishing related activities. In the summer, le Grau d'Agde is transformed into a resort much sought after by families.
Grau d'Agde beaches extend from either side of the Hérault river. On the left bank, there are two beautiful sandy beaches near the city centre. With many restaurants. On the right bank (accessible by car or by ferry boats in the summer season), we find the beach of the Tamarissière backed by a pine forest. The site is protected and extends to the nearby beaches of Vias.
The right bank is home to the small village of La Tamarissière near the beach. The setting is nice although very touristy in the summer. Off season, the locals like to come here on weekends to stroll on the beach or on the dike of the Hérault to enjoy the view of the Grau d'Agde on one side and the pine forest on the other.
