Debarquement Beach in Saint Raphael - France

Debarquement Beach in Saint Raphael overlooks Ile d’Or (private). In the foreground, one can see that this beach is sandy but there are only pebbles at the water’s edge. There is a beautiful pine forest with lots of shade on the left.

The Semaphore is perched on Cap Dramont on the hill. There are small kiosks at the bottom of this beach.

On the left, the beach stretches to Cap Dramont with some trees along the edge. There's no sand, only pebbles (but smaller than on the right).

There is a picnic area in the shade of pine trees on the beachfront.

The beach is below the car park (access via a slope on the right or stairways along the car park). The view of the pine forest between the car park and the beach is beautiful, and the first beach area is sandy.

Above the beach and left of the car park, there is a commemorative landing site (Admiral Henry Kent Hewitt Area) in remembrance of the Allied landing in Provence in August 15th, 1944 (36th US Infantry Division - the famous rangers), which freed Saint Raphael on the morning of August 16. On August 28, the Var department is entirely free.
