Map of the beaches and seaside resort in Pays de la Loire in France

The region of Pays de la Loire is one of the most important seaside destinations in France. Made up of two departments, La Vendée to the south and Loire Atlantique to the north, the beaches of Pays de la Loire are very sought out in the summer. Vast stretches of sand to the south bordered by dunes, the landscape changes in the north as we approach Brittany (Loire Atlantique is often thought of as the south of Brittany).

The beaches in Vendée are the most touristic in Pays de la Loire. The seaside destination Sables d'Olonne is very well-known, but many smaller destinations offer great beaches with stretches of sand as far as the eye can see. The iles Yeu and Noirmoutier complete the choices. To the north we find the beaches of Loire Atlantique. La Baule is the most frequented destination with its large central beach. The Guérande peninsula is also sought out by many. The landscapes start to transform leaving a place for a few secret creeks in the middle of the coast that becomes very rocky.

To the south, we find the beaches of Charente Maritime with the famous iles: Oléron, and Aix. To the north, the beaches of Morbihan are organized around its gulf and the Atlantic Ocean.
