Our opinion on the Furnellu Beach - Caniscione

Furnellu Beach (or Caniscione Beach named after the west point) is located in the town of Monacia-d'Aullène between Figari and Sartène. It is one of the best southwestern beaches of Corsica. Little known and popular in the summer season, it is at the bottom of a lovely bay and is totally preserved with a lake in the background. With its superfine white sand, it is like being on a desert island (some Posidonia, aquatic plants often confused with algae, shows the water quality is good).

The beach is divided into two areas. On the right, there is an anchorage area where swimming is not advised. In the centre, a channel for boats and jet skis, and to the left, the bathing area (unsupervised).

The beach is accessible for the disabled (must be helped because there is no equipment on the beach).

The more adventurous can go into the cove on the left (Furnellu Cove) which is more paradisiac).

To get to this beach from Figari, take the N196 towards Sartène. After the town of Pianottoli- Caldarello (at the crossroads), continue for 5.7 kms and then turn left on the track. The beach is 1.7 km away; the track is in very good condition (no problem for cars).
