Our opinion on the Cavaou Beach
Cavaou Beach in Fos sur Mer is located at the edge of the seaside resort on the road leading to the methane terminal of Fos. A kilometre long sandy beach surrounded by large free car parks, this beach remains pleasant even if the environment is very industrial (especially on the right side of the beach). On the left, the view of the marina of Fos and the old town is nice (slightly offset).
Because of the industrial environment, this beach does not get our most beautiful beach label. We advise you to go Grande Beach instead, which is a bit further away (although one is still very close by...).
Note that there is a tolerance for dogs on leash at the end of Cavaou Beach (on the pebble beach near the methane terminal).

This is the largest sandy beach in Fos sur Mer. On the left from this beach, one can see the marina of Fos sur Mer and the Methane Terminal on the right.
From this beach, one can also see the rock of Fos where one can find the medieval site of Hauture with its castle.
Castrum Fossis is on the left and the access to the resort of Fos sur Mer with its harbour is on the right.
View towards Port Saint Louis, the environment is very industrial, what a shame... because this beach is beautiful.
