Beaches in Iles de Lérins - Ste Marguerite (06401) France - advise, map and photos

Situated 15 minutes by boat from Cannes, the island of Sainte-Marguerite is the biggest of the islands of Lerins. It shelters a 170 hectare forest over a length of 3.2 km and a width of 900 meters (8 km for the perimeter of the island. It is the ideal place to leave the agitation of the Cote d'Azur and to take advantage of the calm (outside of July and August).

The beaches of the island of Lerins are totally different from the sand beaches of Cannes. It's not worth the trouble to come in search of a large beach on the island of Sainte Marguerite, you'll only find small hidden coves and a few sand and pebblestone beaches. One goes to Sainte-Marguerite to lose oneself, to enjoy nature and its clear turquoise water. On the other hand, for swimming it is highly recommended to come with shoes (large rocks in the water). Along the 8 km of shoreline, you'll find numerous little coves. It is often difficult to find the prettiest one when visiting for only one day.
