The beaches in the department Hérault

How can you resist the big sand beaches of Hérault? From La Grande Motte to the east at the border of the seaside destination of Camargue in Gard (Grau du Roi) to Vendres-Plages to the west of the department to the limit of the beaches of Aude, the choice is large!

Around Montpellier, the biggest city in Hérault (but not on the sea), we find several seaside resorts. Carnon, La Grande Motte and Palavas les Flots are the closest to Montpellier and the beaches are huge and the seaside destinations are tourist oriented.

Around the pond Thau, the ambiance is different. Sète is an important fishing harbor, busy all year long. Here we can find 12 kilometers of sand beaches between pond and Mediterranean. Nearby we find Balaruc les Bains which is reputed for its thermal waters.

Marseillan and Cap d'Agde are very festive seaside resorts in Hérault with many things for tourists and families and children. These two areas have activities around the beaches and a nighttime activities.

Around Béziers, the seaside destinations are more calm and familial. Nearby you'll find the seaside destinations of Aude.

If you are looking for discreet little creeks, go toward the beaches of the Pyrenees Orientales on the Cote Vermeille (Vermillion Coast) toward Spain.
