Our opinion on the Raie Profonde Beach
Attached to the tip of Porteau and bordered by the beginning of the pine forest with fir trees, Raie Profonde (Deep Ray) Beach in Ile-d'Yeu (the name is a little weird ... in fact, it is nicknamed deep bay because the seabed is deep) is not indicated on touristic maps. It is mostly frequented by regulars who like to come for the proximity of the pine forest where one can picnic or play petanque in the shade of the pine trees. There is no activity on the beach, people come to sunbathe, swim and play on the beach. Attendance is reasonable even in summer.
This beach is located south of Joinville harbour (about 3.5 km away) just after Sapins Beach.

The environment is pleasant on this sandy beach bordered by the beginning of the pine forest with fir trees. In the background, one begins to see Sapins Beach (both beaches are often confused with one another).
The sand is beautifully wide, and family-oriented. Attendance is reasonable (photo taken Aug. 20 in the middle of the afternoon).
The beach ends at the tip of Porteau. One can reach Salt Marsh Beach, which is just behind.
