Our opinion on the Pontaillac Beach
Royan’s Pontaillac Beach is located west of the resort. The Casino of Royan is on this beach and is a good landmark. The cove is 400 meters long with fine sand and it is the most fashionable beach in Royan. Surrounded by opulent houses, the area is lively with a few bars and restaurants near the beach.
This beach is also a popular surfing spot.
Note that in July and August, you can rent beach chairs and tents on the beach.
On the leisure side, the bowling lovers will find pleasant grounds on the west side.

On the right of this beach, we can distinguish some expensive houses and a few “carrelets” (houses on stilts for fishermen that are frequently found in Charente-Maritime).
The locals say that we find good waves on this beach, ideal for surfing.
