Our opinion on the Moines Beach
There is a beach in Moines Cove South of Château-d'Olonne between Pointe du Vieux Moulin and the forest of St John. This pebble beach offers a protected environment where one can see the rugged coast of Chateau d'Olonne (although the road is quite close). This cove is very different from the classic sandy beaches in Vendee and offers an interesting alternative to change environment. The proximity of a campsite and several vacation homes make it very crowded in summer. Note that the Abbey of St Jean Orbestier is located nearby.
To get to this cove from Les Sables d'Olonne, go to Château d'Olonne on the seaside road. Follow the road for 3 km after Lake Tanchet. Turn right at the roundabout after the cove. There is a car park on the right.

There is a small pebble beach in Moines Cove south of Château d'Olonne, near the Abbey of St John Orbestier.
The view of the rugged coastline is beautiful from this cove. Note that this part of the coast suffers greatly from erosion; falling rocks can occur.
